Principal's Message

Dear James E. Bazzell Middle School Families,

I hope this message finds you well and excited about what is happening this school year. It is a great honor and privilege for me to serve as the principal of James E. Bazzell Middle School. I am eager to welcome both familiar and new faces to our school family.

It is my lifelong passion to work with children and prepare them to be successful members of society. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be in this role. My journey in education spans over 17 years, including teaching various grade levels from sixth through twelfth and serving as both a teacher and an assistant principal. Last year marked my ninth year as the assistant principal of JEBMS, and I was truly proud to take the next step in my career as the Principal this year. I am extremely dedicated to serving the students and families of our caring community.

As we embark on a new academic year, I extend a heartfelt welcome to everyone at JEBMS. Our mission is clear: to provide each and every child with the highest quality education possible. Together, we form a village, with teachers, parents, and community members working collaboratively to ensure the best of every child in our care.

I firmly believe that it is not just our duty to teach academic subjects, but to make a positive impact in the lives of our students. Teaching the whole child means addressing their instructional, social, and emotional needs. We are committed to creating an environment that nurtures curiosity, fosters problem-solving skills, and instills a lifelong love of learning.

As your principal, I want to assure you that every decision made at JEBMS will prioritize the well-being and growth of our students. We will encourage a growth mindset and instill the values of perseverance and confidence to face challenges with resilience. Our goal is to equip them with the knowledge, and skills necessary for a successful future.

Above all, every child at JEBMS will be valued, cared for, and given the support they need to thrive.

I am excited about another amazing year of learning, growth, and success. #PatriotforLIFE!

Wishing you a fantastic school year ahead.

Your Principal,

Jon Porter
