Patriot Football Has Annual Banquet

   The 2014 Allen County-Scottsville High School football season came to a close Sunday afternoon with the annual football banquet at the Patriot Athletic Complex on the campus of Allen County-Scottsville High School. Several football players were honored by Patriot coach Brad Hood for their accomplishments this season.

   Senior Jordon Moss was selected as the team’s Most Valuable Player. Moss also received the Receiver’s Award, Captain Award, and the Offensive Player-of-the-Year Award. Moss recorded 23 catches for 414 yards and three touchdowns. The wide-out had 28 carries for 189 yards and a score. In addition, Moss amassed 107 yards on punt returns and 19 yards on kickoff’s to finish the year with 729 all-purpose yards.

   Junior Ty Mutter received the Offensive Back Award, Captain Award, and the Defensive Player-of-the-Year Award. Mutter led the Patriots in rushing for the season, gaining 581 yards on 106 carries. Mutter also scored a team-high 10 touchdowns. Defensively, the linebacker was second on the team in tackles with a total of 90. Fourteen of his tackles resulted in loss yardage. Mutter was also named Honorable-Mention All-State by The Courier-Journal.

   Senior Quinn Towery---who led AC-S with 91 total tackles---was the winner of the Linebacker Award. Senior Colton Oakes took home the For the Love of the Game Award and a Captain Award. Other seniors receiving award included Cainan Cox, the Defensive Coaches Award, Bradley Hayes, the Defensive Back award, Lucas Payne, the Defensive Line Award, Alex Meador, the Offensive Line Award and Captain Award, and Kyle Collins---the player selected by his peers as the team’s Most Improved Player.

   Junior Dakota Sluss received the Special Teams Award. Sluss punted the ball 44 times for 1,547 yards---an average of 35.2 yards per punt. Sophomore Jack Ward took home the Offensive Coaches Award.

   AC-S posted a 4-7 record for the season. The team’s wins came against Marshall County, Logan County, Breckinridge County and Monroe County. The Patriots will lose 17 seniors to graduation; Jordon Moss, Colton Oakes, Steven Pullium, Brandon Little, Cainan Cox, Bradley Hayes, J.C. Meador, Hunter Williams, Matt Coots, Quinn Towery, Keith Jones, Kyle Collins, Lucas Payne, Clayton Cornwell, Alex Meador, and Jordan Napier along with senior manager Courtney Kendall.

   The Patriots have played football for 46 seasons and have an overall record of 233-260. Coach Brad Hood has a 55-49 record in nine seasons as coach at AC-S.
