Title: The Android

Artist: Sophie Ausbrooks

Grade: 8

Process: This character is derived from Roblox and my relation to this type of emotion that the character has, I got commissioned to make this piece of one of their characters. This character represents freedom and being able to go outside your comfort zone. She is an android that was released out into the world, unaware of their surroundings due to their blindfold. Even with this new and chaotic environment, she still finds peace in her surroundings and is able to take a breather before going further. She is shown to have circuitry tattoos on her arm, exposed wiring, and in a hospital type outfit. I chose this color scheme of blues and other complimentary colors to really dig into that feeling of calmness and composure. The pose and everything about this drawing is original to me, and it wasn’t derived from one particular thing.

My process on making art isn’t really that complicated. The program I use is a free app called ibis paint x, and my tools are my phone and just my finger. You don’t need fancy tools in order to make or do something you enjoy. I enjoy drawing other people's characters and making them happy. I believe that anyone can do anything they put their mind to, including myself. Getting to this stage in my art took a lot of time and continuous effort, but it definitely was worth it.

Seeing people enjoy my art and even asking me to draw characters they made themselves/characters from a show they like really makes me feel proud of what I do. I hope I can inspire other artists and even other people that don’t do art to never give up and to always keep going even when it gets hard. Always know that there’s always someone rooting for you, and the reward for your efforts will always make you feel good.
