Process Submission

In our WIN period, our class works together to record the newscast for our school. There are multiple groups of students that work together to put different parts of our newscast together, and there are a couple of students who put what is going to be said on the newscast on to a teleprompter app. One of the sections that are included is community news, this talks about different events or new things happening in the community. Another section is school news, this includes things like lunch or school celebrations. The last section is sports, this section lists games and try outs for different sports. The different groups that work on these sections write all the information down so that the others can write them into teleprompters to be recorded. Sometimes extra footage is put at the end of a news cast, like this one, so be sure to watch all the way to the end.

To record we use lots of different equipment like a camera, editing software, and Ipads. Once the different groups have finished doing their research on Chromebooks, students copy the information over to an ipad app called teleprompter. We use IMovie on a Macbook to piece together all of the different sections of the newscast videos. It helps us make edits, and cut anything from the newscast that isn’t needed in that segment. Then there are students who create a Canva presentation and put the finished videos into the Canva presentation. We have another group of students that work on putting the videos onto Canva. We use a Canon VIXIA HF G70 video camera to record different things like interviews. We send a group of students throughout the building to interview people like teachers, students, or other staff members. There is also a group of students that are in charge of recording the newscast, this group records all of the different sections as well as operate the camera. Once everything has been recorded and edited the newscast is posted to the YouTube news channel and a link is sent out on Mondays to the teachers to be shown to the students, and also posted on the middle school’s social media pages. Students enjoy watching the newscast so they know about any events coming up in the community or at school.
